When you update your Mac to the new macOS 27, it automatically removes a hidden background program called "Rosetta". Many older printers need Rosetta to talk to your computer. Without it, your printer gets confused and stops working!
But don't worry, the fix is very simple. We just need to tell your Mac to put Rosetta back. We will do this using a built-in tool called "Terminal."
Terminal is an app that lets you give direct text instructions to your Mac.
Click the magnifying glass icon (Spotlight Search) at the top right corner of your screen, or press the Command (⌘) + Spacebar keys together.
Type the word Terminal and press Enter. A small window with a plain background will pop up.
Select and copy the exact text in the box below. Make sure you highlight the entire line!
/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
Click on your open Terminal window.
Paste the command you just copied (press Command (⌘) + V).
Press the Enter (Return) key on your keyboard.
Your Mac will now quickly reinstall Rosetta in the background. Once it finishes, your printer will be able to communicate with your Mac again.
Note: Even after fixing this, your Mac might still show a minor error message when you try to print, but don't worry—your print jobs will now go through successfully!
